The class will be held at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 8901 Del Webb Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89134. The pattern is required and can be purchased from her website. The Clammy template is recommended. The supply list (and a discount code!) is on the website.
For the months of June and July we will be collecting blocks to make quilts for local Veterans. We will be using this stack and whack tutorial from Alison at Cluck Cluck Sew. PLEASE NOTE: Our blocks will be the larger size she mentions at the end of the tutorial. Start with a 9.5 inch square. Blocks will measure 8.5 inches when you’re done.
Fabrics should fit into our red, white and blue theme
Start with 9.5 inch squares as mentioned at the end of the tutorial.
Turned in blocks should measure 8.5 inches.
Individual blocks – do not sew together
July Block Lottery:
Goldfish Crackers by the Emerald Coast MQG.
Background: Navy, deep blue, not all of us will have the same exact shade and that’s ok!
Fish: Anything bright and that contrasts well with the navy. Perfect for scraps. Please use one fabric per fish. Prints or solids.
Tips for piecing: When you sew on the large triangles to make the “water” around the fish, fold the triangle in half and finger press a crease in the center on the long side. Now that you have the center of the triangle, match up that crease with the center seam of the fish block. Pin the center first and then the rest. This will insure your triangle is centered correctly.
Tips for piecing: We need those triangles centered because they are sized larger than the fish block and once you get all four sewn on, the completed block is larger than 12.5″. This is ok! The pattern writer made it so you will have plenty to work with for squaring and trimming your blocks down to 12.5″ unfinished.
QuiltCon Registration is now open! You can find the course catalog and all information on their website, https://www.quiltcon.com/. You must register before November 30 to get the free four-day pass.
