Here’s a recap of our February guild meeting in case you weren’t able to attend.
Our president started off the meeting with a recap of her experience at QuiltCon last week with fabric samples, a book with all the quilts that were present, EQ8 coupons and a look book of Heather Givans’ new line “Night Hike”. She also sent around a “Thank You” card for the mailman who helped deliver the Quilts for Vegas items to Hayle’s school.
The Secretary, Stasha, read off the two amendments that were changed and added to the By-Laws. They will be posted on the guild website and here.
Kirsty, reminded us of the VERY exciting things she has for us this upcoming year such as:
Retreat in Pine Valley Utah from June 8-10. Fee is $80 and slots are limited. You can pay by cash, check or PayPal. HALF OF THE RETREAT IS FULL ALREADY!
She also talked about the upcoming Cristy Fincher class on April 21st. Cristy will be teaching a unique technique called “paperless piecing”.
More information on this class and the retreat can be foundhere.
Cathy did a drawing for those who returned their Quilts for Vegas quilts to the meeting.
She let us know that the quilts will be donated in mid-March and that any remaining quilts and other supplies will be donated to Thomas Fire and Parkland guilds.
She informed the guild that our second charity project will be making baby quilts for the NICU that a few of our guild members work at. They requested that the backs to the quilts be dark in color and the quilts are not size specific.
The next charity she has planned is to make pencil and pillow cases for The Assistance League for needy children. We will be making these in the May-June time frame with a Sew-In date on May 12th.
Teri introduced that 3 new members to the guild and the guests who joined us for the meeting.
Chelsa has some more ADORABLE lotto and challenges for us this month!!!
The challenge for us this month is to come up with no more than 9 projects that we personally haven’t finished and post them on social media!
The lottery block is a Missouri Star Company pattern called “Rising Star” with a solid dark grey background. Seen below and the link to the tutorial is here. The only modification to the pattern is that we are using 6″ blocks for the background instead of 10″.
