Here’s a recap of our March guild meeting in case you weren’t able to attend.
Our president started off the meeting with a reminder to the guild to attend the DQN quilt show in Henderson.
Here are a few photos of the quilts that were entered by LVMQG members in case you couldn’t make the show.
CONGRATS TO ALL OF THOSE WHO ENTERED THEIR QUILTS IN THE SHOW!!!
There was a typo in the monthly meeting reminder. The guild does NOT need any fabric donations.
If any long arm quilters would like to be listed on the guild website, Hayle has a google document that you can fill out and send in.
Quilts for Vegas is almost complete!!! We are still waiting to hear from the Resiliency Center to coordinate a hand off! A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!!!!
The upcoming events for the guild are as follows:
Retreat in Pine Valley Utah from June 8-10. Fee is $80 and slots are limited. You can pay by cash, check or PayPal. HALF OF THE RETREAT IS FULL ALREADY!
Cristy Fincher class on April 21st. Cristy will be teaching a unique technique called “paperless piecing”.
More information on this class and the retreat can be foundhere.
Cathy updated us on the upcoming charity events.
Our second charity project will be making baby quilts for the NICU that a few of our guild members work at. They requested that the backs to the quilts be dark in color and the quilts are not size specific.
Bring our quilts into the next monthly guild meeting and get a raffle ticket for every quilt!
The following charity she has planned is to make pencil and pillow cases for The Assistance League for needy children. We will be making these in the May-June time frame with a Sew-In date on May 12th.
Teri introduced new members to the guild and the guests who joined us for the meeting.
She also wanted all members to double check their status on the MQG site and to contact her (email@example.com) if you have any issues or are not listed. You can also talk to our media gal, Katie.
Chelsa is a genius with her lotto and swaps for us this month!!!
The challenge for us this month is the same as last month… Come up with no more than 9 projects that we personally haven’t finished and post them on social media!
The swap this month is a “Mini Word” swap. Chelsa paired up everyone who signed up at the meeting with another guild member to make a mini with a word relating to sewing/quilting for their partner! She asks that the mini be no larger than 24×24″ and suggested searching Pinterest for those who need any inspiration.
The lottery block is a Bear Creek Quilting Company pattern called “Airmail Envelope”. Chelsa is asking that the envelopes have a focal print on the “inside” with a citrus (orange, green, yellow, etc.) color for the outside of the envelope. The background is low volume. There are no modifications to the pattern. You can find the tutorial here.
Bobby shared with us the results of her survey that she asked everyone to do at the beginning of the year. She is excited about the amount of members that are domestic quilters!
She will be teaching a walking foot class in April! Be sure to bring your walking foot, a 1×6″ ruler and a fine felt tip marker.
